When I visit Yahoo News or watch CNN or other news channels, it is hard to miss all the killings and violence. Today the headline was that 3 bombers have blown up a bunch of people in three small villages Northwest of Iraq. The bombers hid the bombs in a water truck, a gasoline truck and the bomber just went among a number of people and blew himself and a bunch of them up. The number of dead exceeds 250 plus and many more have been injured. Violence is not limited to Iraq. In every region and on a daily basis human beings are killed by other humans; the atrocities, hatred and the depth of violence that man can exercise against another defies the imagination. I believe that universal intellect and civility lags technology by many decades. While technology has made it possible for a single person or even a small group to kill or maim many, we as human beings have not intellectually evolved adequately to harness the technology for the good of all. I believe that ignorance is the root of all evil and the only cure is enlightenment. No thought process can justify blowing up some poor souls who are gathering around a water truck to get water because they can’t get it at home. What possible threat can a bunch of people who don’t have enough power or wealth to get drinking water at their home pose to anyone? Is not having drinking water a crime punishable by wiping these poor souls along with their family and villages off the face of the earth? How can anyone believe that tearing their own flesh to tens of pieces and murdering defenseless women and children would please the GOOD LORD? Although I and many of you have no answer for these questions, three murderers did and unfortunately acted on it yesterday. No holy book endorses these kinds of murderous behavior; however someone who these bombers believed to be representing the GOOD LORD convinced these bombers that what they do is holy. The only way to prevent these violent acts is by destroying the thought processes that validate and promote such acts. Violence has never been quailed through violence, why? Simple, because every violent act adds on to the other violent acts which have been already committed and you do not erase anything through the process of addition. The only way is enlightenment and enlightenment is only achieved through gaining knowledge. How you see the world is the basis for all your actions and someone who sees the greatness of the GOOD LORD in billions of galaxies, in DNA, or in majestic black holes is going to have a hard time believing that murdering women and children is a holy act. I believe that bombarding people with Discovery and Science Channel type programs, or my all time favorite, Hubble Telescope pictures, will bear a lot bigger fruit than bombing with explosives. We might just succeed in stopping the madness.
